Use this guide for brainstorming and inspiration to get members engaged. A successful job board is only as good as its job posts.
💡Your goal should be to get members to sign up and sync their career page or post jobs manually.
Onboard your members
Make sure you keep your communication relevant and actionable for your community members. Build engagement with these methods.
Communication | For | Action item |
Pilot program | Most active community members | Invite a handful of highly engaged members to the job board early. Your most active members are likely to contribute and will enjoy testing new things out. Ask if they would like to be the first to post jobs. Seeding the board with jobs will help other members see the value. |
Inform community admins | Your admin and/or moderation team |
Be sure the official community representatives know about the job board, its benefits, how to sign up and how the board itself is moderated. Admins should understand your goals with the board and how to explain the value of it to members. |
General announcement email & conversational post | The entire community | Inform active members about the launch of your board via email. Be sure to also post on your community’s Slack, Discord, forum, or wherever community conversations happen. Convey the benefits and direct members to sign up. |
New member onboarding |
Brand new members | When a new member joins the community, let them know about the benefits of the job board. Update any email or Slack automations to include a mention of the board and how to sign up to post jobs. |
Webinar / Virtual meeting | The entire community | If you regularly hold virtual meetings, like coffee chats or networking sessions, consider prompting discussions about hiring and direct members to your board as a new channel to leverage for their recruiting. |
Branded job board benefits template
Let members know how they stand to gain from posting their jobs on your board. This type of template can be used across channels to let users know about how they can take advantage of your branded job board.
